London Marathon Raises Money for Bowel Research UK
We are immensely proud of our colorectal and peritoneal surgeon Mr Umar Shariff, who ran the London Marathon this year...
Advanced bowel cancer – referred to as Stage 4 bowel cancer – is when cancer has spread from the rectum or colon to other parts of the body. For some people, the cancer is only detected when it reaches this stage, whereas for others it is picked up much sooner.
Symptoms of advanced bowel cancer include bowel problems, pain, sickness and loss of appetite.
At the Bowel Cancer Clinic, we have experts in treating stage 4 cancer, including liver, lung and peritoneal surgeons (see Cytoreductive Surgery and HIPEC), as well as our clinical and medical oncologists. The multidisciplinary team is able to co-ordinate your treatment so that each part of your treatment is carried out at the right time and in the best way.
Alongside surgery you may be offered targeted treatment, including immunotherapy drugs, radiotherapy or chemotherapy.
