Surgery

If your cancer requires surgery, our expert surgical team will be with you every step of the way, from the initial consultation and multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss your care, through to pre-operative assessments and your time on the operating table. After surgery, you will be carefully monitored and, once you are ready to go home, we will provide detailed aftercare advice and scheduled follow-up appointments. We are always happy to answer any questions you may have.

Robotic (Keyhole) Bowel Cancer Surgery

At the Bowel Cancer Clinic we are offering Robotic Surgery at our high-tech state-of-the-art Harborne Hopsital, part of HCA Healthcare UK. Robotic surgery is keyhole surgery used to remove bowel cancer using a high precision robot controlled by the surgeon.

Laparoscopic (Keyhole) surgery

Depending on the size and location of your bowel cancer and whether it has spread to other areas, you may require surgery. Wherever possible, we offer our patients laparoscopic, or keyhole surgery.

The Surgical Pathway

Each patient’s experience will vary depending on individual circumstances. Here is an example of the pathway that some patients with bowel cancer may take.

Types of Surgery

Your surgeon will discuss which approach might work best for you, as well as the potential risks of surgery and the risks associated with not having surgery.
