London Marathon Raises Money for Bowel Research UK
We are immensely proud of our colorectal and peritoneal surgeon Mr Umar Shariff, who ran the London Marathon this year...
Our team of bowel cancer specialists is dedicated to supporting you at every stage of your treatment and care. Each patient is different, with different care needs, which is why our whole approach is based around individualised, one-to-one care.
Following your diagnosis, we will outline your treatment options and advise on our recommended care plan. We work in a collaborative and multidisciplinary way, combining our expertise and the range of different treatments available – including new and groundbreaking approaches and drugs that are not currently available on the NHS – to achieve the best possible outcomes.
Our team is led by Dr James Good, an oncologist with particular expertise in bowel cancer drug treatments and advanced forms of radiotherapy, and Mr Haney Youssef, an expert bowel cancer surgeon and one of only a handful in the UK with the skills to operate on patients with advanced peritoneal spread.
Our intent is always to provide a cure where we can. If this is not achievable, we will work with you to deliver the best possible quality of life for the longest possible time. We will take a holistic view of your life and wellbeing. We see you as an individual rather than simply a range of symptoms, so we will always take into account your personal priorities and perspectives.
As a patient of The Bowel Cancer Clinic you may be able to undergo chemotherapy treatment at home. If this is not possible, you will be admitted as a day case to your choice of private hospital which will provide high quality, comfortable care with treatment schedules that fit around you and your life.
Your pre and post-operative care plan will be agreed in consultation with you. It will normally include a mix of radiotherapy and chemotherapy with the intent to cure you so you can continue to enjoy a good quality of life.
