Oncology

We are specialists in the diagnosis and treatment of bowel cancer, including preventing its recurrence after treatment. Our approach to oncology uses some of the very latest treatment approaches, including genomic profiling, and we are involved in several leading clinical trials. Our aim is to cure your cancer wherever we can, and we will advise you on the most effective treatment programme, using a combination of chemotherapy, radiotherapy and immunotherapy.

Pre and post-operative treatment

Each patient is different, with different care needs, which is why our whole approach is based around individualised, one-to-one care. Our team of bowel cancer specialists is dedicated to supporting you at every stage of your treatment and care.

Advanced bowel cancer treatment

Advanced bowel cancer – also called secondary, stage 4 or metastatic bowel cancer – is cancer that has spread from the bowel to other parts in the body, such as the lungs, liver or peritoneum.

Radiotherapy

Radiotherapy may be used alongside surgery or chemotherapy. The aim is always to cure the cancer (curative radiotherapy) but if this is not possible, radiotherapy can also be used to relieve symptoms.

Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy

Chemotherapy and immunotherapy are both forms of systemic anti-cancer therapy (SACT). As specialists in the treatment of bowel cancer, The Bowel Cancer Clinic is up to date with the very latest advances in chemotherapy and immunotherapy and have access to drugs that are not currently available on the NHS.

Genomic Profiling and Clinical Trials

Clinical trials are research studies that you may want to participate in if you are diagnosed with bowel cancer. There are all kinds of different trials, including those looking at screening for bowel cancer, diagnosis, treatment, prevention and identifying risks and causes.
